Rolling along...@ two weeks post op.

Recommended Posts

I thought I was going to be three weeks post op on Tuesday, but it will be only two weeks. Time is going much slower than I thought!

Doing okay, on the pureed diet. Difficult to remember to eat. I don't feel weak or anything. Just don't want to be losing my hair and such faster than I need to. Getting in at least two Protein Shakes a day. My stomach is certainly active. I used to gulp Water like crazy. It is difficult to switch to small sips. Often I feel everything is stuck in my throat, if I take two gulps in a row without thinking. It is a new way to life and I am adjusting. No regrets.

I am baking my Christmas Cookies and making meals for my husband (empty nester), no problems there. He is my official tester, so I am depending on him a lot. I am okay with all of it. That I am grateful for.

I just can't wait until six months from now, everything will be easier.

Good report - I'm taking notes as my surgery is December 27. I think the hardest part will be the small sips. As mothers, we learn to eat fast before the baby notices we ae eatng. My babies are 32 and 31 - you'd think I'd have slowed down by now!! Please keep us posted as to your progress.

I too, thought next Tuesday would be 3 weeks....I am not doing pureed foods, still just protien drinks 3 x day and lots of sips of Crystal Light in between. Still having to crush meds, and not eat anything that won't go thru a strainer, Dr.'s orders until the 3rd week. I find that I am missing the act of chewing, if that makes sense? The only thing I have chewed is my daily Centrum multi...my B12 is sublingual, my Vitamin D is very soft Gummy, my other multi is a scoop of crystals that I put in my Protein Drinks. I just want to chew a piece of American Cheese......mmmmmmmmmmmm....lol. My 1st follow up appt. is next Thursday....I will certainly ask, if that is close enough to 3 weeks to swallow my meds, add soft foods, and does everyone's hair fall out?? I can say I am not hungry, but I go to fridge through out the day, and just open it...luckily there's nothing in there to tempt me at all! My husband has been cooking for himself and not stocking the fridge. I told him, we will stock in a week in half, cottage cheese, string cheese (Yes!), delli meats, and whatever else on my list for days 22-42!!! Oh I am allowed fat free frozen popcicles...I think I'll have one now, it's close to chewing...you get to bite it and let it melt in your mouth...lol!!

Oh Karen, that never leaves us after having babies! Mine our 23, 25, and 27!

Glenda, it amazes me how different doctors are to what happens before and after surgery. I was allow to swallow pills right after surgery. Wait 5 minutes in between them.

I read everyone loses some hair. I am keeping up on my Protein and other Vitamin supplements to prevent as much as possible.

I think I would have shoot myself already if I had to stay only the Protein drinks. All that sweet stuff for my one week before surgery was beyond difficult for me.

Good luck, I see we have the same surgery date.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
