I love reading all of the posts that people make about their pre-op diets and the day of their surgery and the follow up days. I remember reading them when I first started this process and being so jealous. It felt like my turn would never get here. I also was so nervous that insurance would turn me down, or the doctor would say I didn't do something right.

Well now I'm on my liquid diet, and I only have 12 days until surgery. It has flown by. The liquid diet has not been nearly as daunting or difficult as I thought it would.

I'm so happy that I have made it this far! I just wanted to let anyone who is just starting this process and feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or even just plain jealous (like I was) that there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Granted this just means that I have made it through the end of the post-op journey and to the beginning of pre-op but I have the distinct feeling that I am about to "level-up" lol :).

I'm in my appointments stage (2nd appt out of 3 with nutritionist coming up, GI specialist tomorrow, mental eval next week)... Shooting for mid Feb surgery. Surgeon said as soon as I'm done with appointments we can arrange it to whichever works best. I've been doing the food funeral thing lately but now I'm stopping because I've gained about 5 very unwanted pounds in the last month!!! How's your pre op going? What did you have today????

The pre-op is going really well. I'm actually down 11 lbs from when I started and I am not finding that I'm starving. Don't get me wrong - I miss eating "real food" :) - but I'm not "hungry" like I thought I would be. As long I stay ahead of the hunger with protien shakes I find that I don't mind the pre-op at all. Today I've had:

Breakfast:

Protien shake

(this was way yummy)

Snack:

greek yogurt

Lunch:

8 oz protien shake

1/2 cup of Soup

Snack:

greek yogurt

Dinner:

Cream of broccoli&cheese Soup (strained)

I've also had G2 to sip on all day. Calorie wise it comes in at 800ish. Protien around 70 I may have left something out I can't remember at this point, probably Jello :). Honestly, I feel like I've eaten all day to get all of that in. I eat less when I'm working. When I'm teaching it is very go go go and I don't notice that I haven't had a lot.

I'm sure all the Protein has something to do with not being hungry!! Sounds pretty decent though. I'm a teacher too!!!! How long are you going to take off after surgery?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
