All Alone On My Big Day

Recommended Posts

Wow after reading a post here, I remembered that my DH took me to the hospital and left to go to work after my surgery and I really didn't have any visitors until my daughter picked me up after the second night. I had a lot of fun with my morphine pump, slept and didn't miss anyone. It was so nice to be left alone. :) Gosh how lucky was i....?

You can do this! You have everyone's support on this forum. I use this as my support system, because I chose not to tell anyone but my hubby. Look thru this site as you go through the different phases. Use the search feature and look up things as you are going thru it; like depression, regrets, and other scary feelings you go thru at first. This will help you see that it is normal. Then when you realize that these are normal feelings and will pass you feel better. Hang in there we are all here for you!!!

Hope all went well. To echo everyone you are not alone. This is something you do for YOU! Some people agree some don't but it is a choice. I found the support, advice and encouragement on this form has been incredible. Even more than my friends. Good luck to you on your journey to a new YOU

Sometimes we have to do things alone and in the end our families who didn't stand by us are the ones who are going to have the biggest regrets. You are so strong to continuing this journey and this is one small step. Ask your hospital if they have a support group. I know the one I went to has this program called visiting angels where other wls patients mentor others. It sucks when we don't have our families backs, but it's their loss not ours. I hope that you have a speedy recovery and everything goes well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
