Getting Frustrated.. Any Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi Friends,

I was sleeved on 11/15 and I just don't feel very successful. To date I've lost only 14 lbs. At the beginning of week 2 I had a complete stall and even gained a pound and I was mostly on Clear Liquids at the time! How is that even possible.. now here I sit, 19 days out and only 14 lbs gone. I'm not hungry, not thirsty but I am trying my hardest to get in all the liquid and Protein (45-60 oz liquid and 75-85 g protein) per day but I know I don't always reach that goal. I don't start on mushy foods until week 4 so I have another 1.5 weeks on this stage. I'm as active as I can be so I don't know what is going on but I know that small amount of weight loss is depressing to me. I am following all of my orders perfectly.

One other question for some of you who have been through this! I have an incision on the left where the camera was and of course the one in the middle where the stomach came out. Between those two it is soooo sore that it feels like a thousand knives stabbing me if I bend over. Doc office says it's the muscle and probably needs to heal a bit more but OMG it's so sore! Anyone else experience this? It is literally between those two incisions. Yes, the incisions are sore, but gosh the area between them is so much worse in terms of soreness. All the other incisions are fine, no issues.

Thanks!

Patience :) The weight loss will come. 14 lbs since 11/15 is good, just ask yourself when was the last time you lost that much weight that quickly. Your body is adjusting. Just keep doing what you are doing. Drinking will get easier and so will eating and soon you will be getting everything in. Best of luck!!!!

Ditto what Gene said, you will have your stalls just make sure you are getting in as much of your fluids and Proteins. That is the most important thing and walk

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
