Hungry Or Empty Stomach Or In My Head?

Recommended Posts

I eat through out the day...wake up to a Protein shake...breakfast a boiled egg and a small piece of meat...lunch tuna or crab salad..dinner chunks of chicken after dinner a few chunks of chicken.....its 11:00 and i had a few more chunks of chicken (3 small cubes) but i dont know if i am hungry or if its because i am used to eating at night or its just a feeling of an empty stomach and it feels weird....I dont want to fail! I am not exercising yet because i feel i am just still too heavy my knees and foot hurt (maybe thats just an excuse) I was sleeved the 19th of October...so I am about 6 weeks out. Does or has anyone gone through this and if so what do you do...i am gonna talk to my doc ...i just dont wanna fail....

Are you on an acid-reducer? Are you getting your liquids in? These both can give you the feeling of being hungry. Also, head hunger can make you do crazy things, too! I am 6 weeks out as well and I have had my fair share of fighting the urge to eat more. If I start feeling hungry, I will try sipping on some Water. That is usually enough to make that hungry feeling subside or go away completely.

It sounds like you are eating about as much as me. Are you getting all of your Protein in for the day? Depriving yourself of Protein can also make you feel hungry.

Good luck on figuring this all out and on your weight loss journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
