Dreadful 7Day Evaluation... Any Feedback?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Currently at my pre-op stage I have seen every specials in the book.... Lol Pcp, Gastro, Phyic, Pulmonary, cardiologist and Urologist all cleared me for WNL. Last appt was with the nutritionists once again the dreadful 7day diet... I feel so ashamed when I see the amount of food I eat and feel out of control... I hate it!!! I feel hungry all the time...My medical issues are serious, I have high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol taking a bunch of meds.. I weight 230 5'4... Can the nutritional evaluación affect the insurance covering the surgery? Can the supervised diet harm my chances of being approved?

Sweetheart...the nut does not think you got to this point by eating salad and a boiled chicken breast. The fact that you have been honest in the evaluation phase is likely refreshing :). The evaluation will show where your problem lies (ie too much carb focus, too large of meals, etc) and help them guide you in the future. It's not a bad thing. You'll be fine! The supervised diet is to prep you for surgery. Some do it a week, a few days, two days, or for a month. For others it is much longer to lose a specific amount of weight to be healthier for surgery. On those, if you don't meet the surgeons goal you likely won't have surgery, but for this it's just an evaluation, not life and death ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
