Has Anyone Else Been Released To Drink Pop

Recommended Posts

Soda is a no no.....my doc told....what r more problems that strech stomach.....I sometimes need to vomit as I overeat' date=',,,,is that a prob too

Sent from my iPad using VST[/quote']

Ask yourself that question. A) vomiting is not something that any doctor in the US recommends for anything (do any in the world? I don't think so...ok if you drink poison maybe). and B) is overeating a goal we should strive for????

I don't know how my surgeon feels about soda but I've never liked soda or any kind of sugary drink unless it was Cranberry and vodka. Other than that I hate the fizz and how dehydrated drinks make me feel. My friends in the past would laugh at me because I would always order a Water with my meal instead of the standard soda. It's pretty rare that I would ever drink a soda in the past and I never finished a whole one. My own personal belief is everything in moderation :)

I was told no soda, too. Unless of course it's gone completely flat, but why bother. One girl I know had bypass 10+ years ago and started drinking soda heavily again, then gained back the weight and could eat bigger portions. We all assumed she stretched her pouch (even her surgeon) and just needed a revision, but when they did a scan it turns out she actually dilated her esophagus. It can be surgically corrected, but it's risky and not hopeful that insurance will cover it.

My surgeon said no soda as well. But soda is my gateway drug. I used to drink a 12 pack of Mountain Dew a day.no more for me ever. Even if doc says ok.

My nut and doc said its fine every now and then and it doesn't stretch the stomach. According to my doc its almost impossible to stretch the sleeve unless you overeat heavily for 6+ months. All docs are different

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
