Still Under 30# To Goal- 23 Months Out

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, No one has posted here in a while, but I am still -30 pounds to goal.... 24 to be exact. I have gained some wieght, it is a struggle, but have not given up hope. I can see most of my problem... what and how much I eat! The holidays are the devil for me.... I see grazing is probably my biggest problem. Always sticking some little snack in the pie hole...(they don't call it that for nothing!) My mom in law is taking off back to NZ in a few days, and I am back in shape to increase exercise, so back on track I go. Posting here is part of the plan. Regular fitday use too.... Best of luck to you all over the holdiays!

About 6 weeks from my last post... same weight. Switched to myfitnesspal, like it much better than fitday. On the 1200 cal ftnesspal plan starting on the 1st, and have gained 2.4 pounds. Got to be water...this will not make me stop... even if this is maintenance, I am so happy I got that sleeve done!

Hi.

I am pleased to find this thread.

It is almost 3 years since I was sleeved and I also am still within 30 lbs of goal.

I never reached it!

I reached my lowest weight approx 7 months post op and have stayed there , or "there abouts, " since.

I have not been on this forum much in the past 2 years, nor have I been thinking much about my weight.

But, it is coming up close to my anniversary and I am in the mood for a bit of a stock taking and would like to lose a few lbs before I document my 3 year wt loss.

I have not been following the rules, and have a kinda forgotten them.

Getting back to this forum will help me get back to basics I hope.

Bookleen

Just found this thread!

I'm another who is not at goal but I've maintained my lowest weight, with a 2-4lb bounce for 18mths. I've never stopped trying to get to goal, apart for a few weeks here and there having some 'time off'!

So, I have 9lbs to get to my surgeons goal and 24lb to get my personal goal.

I too will keep on keeping on.

I'm 9 days post TT and once I've fully recovered I plan on getting my mojo back and back into the gym. Not necessarily for weight loss, but for toning. I'm thinking that whatever weight I get to, I want to look as good and as strong as I can.

I will start with walking, once cleared, and build up from there aiming to back to the boxing gym by sept/oct!

I'm following the primal eating style, and not logging at the moment - my hubby has lost 28lbs eating this way since the new year, I've lost a pound! Still, a pound here and there is better than nothing!

Good luck one and all.... We are still in this together!

I would expect you will have lost some more lbs because of that?

You sound as if you have put in a great effort, so you deserve to get to you goal.

Lets all get on board together and sail into our destination.

We also invite everyone who is within 30 lbs of their goal to join us.

Hiya Bookleen,

Yeah, a tummy tuck! The surgeon took off over 3lb if skin off but that isn't showing on the scales yet, still really swollen, but it will get better eventually.

I started a thread over a year ago, 'gonna get to goal, wanna join me?' And I do update there. I find it really useful to have a place to come and vent or chat or share ideas.

You're right, it is really good to have people who understand the position you're in; who have been there and got through, or who you can just share ideas with.

My friends who know about my sleeve are amazing, but they just don't 'get' it!

I was sleeved April 2014 and have lost about 55 lbs but have been at a standstill for the last 2 months. I have about 20 lbs to go but can't seem to get past this standstill. Any suggestions.

Stalls are normal for many. I did eventually lose my weight, now gained a little back, but all in all doing ok after 4+ years out. about 10 pounds up from goal. Best advice is use MFP, and write down what you eat every day, even if its crap. Get back onto Protein first, lower carbs (I never went to really low carbs), move, drink your Water, but not with meals... I keep it off by doing a semi fast one or two days a week. That is also how I got the last weight off after a very long stall. I used 5:2... find info on the vets forum. Best of luck... you are not even one year out, so expect to slowly lose the last part over the next year if you stay on track. It took me 3 years to get it all off.

I was sleeved end of Jan 2016 and have gone from weighing 215 to 148. My goal weight is 120 and I feel I'm so close but the old habits are so hard to give up. Everyday a is a challenge because yes unless I get the piehole sown shut its an uphill battle with the constant need to snack. And I hate drinking it just won't go down. Worry once I do get to my goal weight I will start eating again

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
