Take it easy, if you over do too soon, you build scar tissue and that can cause a lot of problems in the future.

What kind of workout did u do before the surgery? I did some walking but was not motivated bc I did not think I was making progress. Since I have been sleeved, I thought I would be more ready to workout. However, I'm still not motivated everyday! But just take your time and you will get the approval. It's all about constantly reminding yourself why u got the surgery!

You can go for a walk, but they don't want you to pull anything. Be careful to follow surgeons advice.

SOON you will be able to hit the gym. Soon. I admire your determination to do all you can to lose the weight!

Thank you everyone! Before the surgery I walked- not much, but with loosing what I have so far I have so much more energy and I want to work out. I am starting to feel like a deflated balloon in the stomach area. Trust me I have so much more to go, but I feel it. Also I want to work on my upper arms. I will wait until my doc says ok.....I am just ready to jump in head first ya know? I wanted my goal weight to be 140. My nutritionist today said I might want to make it 170. So I have decided to try to make it to 170 for summer. That is 13 lbs a month jan to june. I know its a reach, but its my goal and I really want to challenge myself. I do not want to get in the frame of mind that they surgery will do all the work for me. I am in the right frame of mind that this is a tool to help me loose weight, but I have to do my part also. I will listen to my Doc..I don't want to get hurt.

You can lift light weights. For example, if your surgeon said do not lift more than 15 pounds, you can do bicep curls and triceps extensions with two five pound weights for a total of 10 pounds. If 5 pounds is too much, do two pounds. You can always lift more reps with less weight. Smaller muscles (anterior deltoid) respond better to this higher reps/lower weight. If you pull on your incisions, they're going to hurt. If you need pain meds after lifting light weights, you're lifting too much. Lift sitting down and you won't engage your core. And/or lift one arm at a time if you feel your core tighten when you lift.

My dr said 8 weeks. I did a lot of walking daily before that. Walking up hills is a good workout using gravity as your resistance.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
