How Much Weight Loss?

Recommended Posts

Ive lost a total of 51 pounds in 4 months-start weight August - 278, DOS Oct 11 - 255.5, 6 weeks post-op - 227! The weight is coming off in spurts for me. The scale won't move for 5 days then suddenly it will go down 1-1/2 - 2 pounds a week. I try to weigh myself only every 4 days, if not once a week. I find if I don't drink enough Water, the loss is less. Fast or slow it works! I can wear my boots and jeans again-last winter back to skirts only-jeans too uncomfortable! Slow and steady wins the race. Remember to Celebrate your success-the goal weight isn't the be all end all, enjoy the journey, too!

I'm down 132 pounds from my highest weight, and have lost 80 pounds since the week after my surgery (since Jube 26th). "Fast" or "slow", I'm thrilled with my weight loss so far!! :)

I lost 10 lbs pre op .......surgery was 8-21-12.....I am 3 months post op so far. Starting weight 249 lbs, surgery weight 239 lbs

22 lbs first month post op

12 lbs 2nd month post op

10 lbs 3rd month post op

Today I weigh 195lbs. Many might consider me slow, but I don't want to lose 20 lbs each month, it might leave too much saggy skin, so I think it's great where it's at, even if it stays at 8-10 lbs a month!!

You and I have almost the same stats!! Same surgery day. I was 249.5 when I started the process. Weight today 201.

I am quite happy with my progress. This isn't another crash diet for me. I am working hard at appreciate food and eat for my health. This really is my final effort. If I regain my weight, I WILL be a fat person until the day I die. So with that in my mind, I am really working the program.

Keep up the good work!!

Judy

How much weight do you have to lose? 48 pounds is a LOT in 11 weeks.

Hi Judy,

I agree, it's a work in progress for sure. And, never 'think' that you will regain the weight, because that is NOT an option for us. After all we've gone thru, we'll make sure we don't!! How tall are you? I'm 5'5"?

I'm 5'5 also! Lol.

I don't think that I will regain the weight. I agree, that would be sabotage. I didn't word that correctly in my first post. I have no doubt that this is for keeps. But in the past I've never been invested 100% in whatever program I was using at the time, (WW, nutrisystem, etc.) This time around, I know it WILL work and that's why I am taking my time and putting in the effort to relearn good habits. So I'm more interested in doing this right rather than doing this fast.

Awesome, we are the same height too!! I am sure you'll succeed in this journey with your positive attitude. We'll have to keep tabs on each other. It's nice to see others who have the same stats so we can compare if one or the other is struggling or having hurdles that they need help with. Keep up the good work!!!

RareGold, I agree!!! My goal is 140, set by my doc. To me, I want to be size 12/14. In my 30's that was a good size for me w/o looking gaunt.

Good luck!!

Just wondering what to expect far as weight loss. This question is for all of you Post Op followers. How much weight did you drop in the first few months?

15 a month is more than great. I am 5 months out and lose about 10-15 a month. For month 1 and 2 I lost about 45 a month. It definitely is slowing down and getting much harder to lose as I get closer to goal. I am extrapolating that goal is going to be in about 4 months if I can continue at the 10 a month. I do definitely exercise much more now than I did even a month ago.

I think I lost 16 lbs my first month and I should probably lose around 10-15 lbs this month. Heck if I can maintain a 8-15 lbs weight loss per month I will be happy :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
