Overeating issues!

Recommended Posts

I have to say that I still have many overeating issues. I know the band works on the physical aspect of becoming fuller faster and keeping the portion size small............but my head is still fat and I am still craving sweets and wanting to overeat.

I am a July 21st bandster. Have lost 35-38 pounds to date and feel great, but my band is loosening, my weight fluctuating, and I need a fill. My bad snacking and overeating habits are sneaking back.

Any advice would be appreciated, otherwise I am just a-complaining here. I am also hoping that my fill Oct 23 might help a bit....

Also thinking of hypotherapy???

Anyone?

You'll do better when you get your next fill....that first one usually doesn't do much for anybody.

The thing that helped me at that point (and still does) is using a really good Protein drink that I like....now I would just as soon have a good Protein Delight or Matrix shake as a Dairy Queen milkshake. It satisfies the sweet craving as well as the actual hunger. But makes sure you are using one that is designed for bariatric patients (lo carb, hi protein), not the kind designed for athletes, body builders. (bariatriceating.com carries good stuff).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
