hey my fellown texan

Im trying to get the surgery myself if i can ever get to a specialist to look at me. what doctors are you going to see

I live in Ft. Worth. My doctor is Dr. Adam Smith, a successful lap band patient himself. His website is www.fortworthlapband.com

I read in a magazine about Dr. J (couldn't remember how to spell his entire name..sorry) in Dallas, the one mentioned in a few other posts. He was voted the best in Dallas maybe even TX by his colleagues for WLS.

Anyone from Ft. Worth?

Hey ladies from Austin...my second home :nervous I have lots of family down there and visit often. GO UT!!!! YEAAAAA (couldn't resist, sorry).

Glad to see so much support coming from TX!

One more (soon to be banded) Texan here.

I am just north of Dallas.

I have 8 more days to go. I am so ready to begin my journey. I think this is going to be the help that I need. I do realize it will be work and the band won't do it all by itself, but it will certainly help me along the way.

Good luck to you all!!!

If your in fort worth Dr. Adam Smith comes very highly recommended, plus he also has the lapband himself so he knows what were going through. If everything goes as planned I should have a surgery date scheduled within the next month :)

Good Luck !!!

Jennifer

GiGlesTX,

I am currently in the process of going through the pre prep program with Dr. Smith in FW. My insurance company requires this. I really like him and the office. Hopefully I will be approved in early Dec. Glogirl

Hey Glogirl,

Looks like there are a few of us going to get surgery in Dec. by Dr. Smith. I've already completed my psyhc eval and nutrition required Dr. Smith. For some reason my insurance company didn't require this for me. I look forward to talking to you soon. Best of luck!

:clap2: Hi all. I was banded yesterday morning by Dr. Spivak. I'm feeling great today with very little soreness. I just wanted to share my experience. I was a little sore and a lot sleepy all day yesterday:notagree , but feel great today. The treatment at the surgical center was exceptional and they called today to follow up. food today has been Protein Shake, grits, Water and applesauce with no difficulties at all. I just hope your all have as positive an experience as I have had thus far!:) :) :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
