I Did It! I Got Sleeved!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I got sleeved on Friday, 11/16. I just got home tonight from the hospital. They kept me an extra day because my hemoglobin was low.

All along this journey I kept asking myself "are you sure you want to this?". Then I was actually having it done and when I woke up after surgery I had the biggest feeling of "omg! what have I done!" I felt awful, the pain was bad, I felt like I had done something so unnecessary and stupid and that I will never be the same because of it. I wanted to lose weight, had tried for years, so the sleeve seemed like the right tool to use to get me where I wanted to be. But after surgery, I felt like I had totally betrayed myself, had done something totally stupid and now I can't go back. I actually feel if I could go back, I would.

The doctors and nurses were kind but it was hell being in the hopsital for 3 days and 2 nights UGH! Now I'm home and I can't hardly drink anything, it hurts inside. I know I have to get my liquids in and I'm hoping this pain will go away so I can have a decent shake and in a few weeks maybe an egg or Soup or something. God I hope this turns out the way I was hoping.

Everyone has buyer's remorse at some point! In a few weeks this bit will be a dim and distant memory and you'll be enjoying the weight loss x

Sorry that your sleeve experience is starting off bad, but hopefully everything will turn around soon and you will be so glad that you made this decision.

Oh my god that's exactly how I felt I was sleeved November 13 Tuesday and i was just like you I went in and And before I knew it I was out with regret I couldn't believe what I'd had done to myself I was thinking .. god had made me perfect and I just ruined my system... ...eating wasn't so bad I really didn't hate the treadmill so much that I would never feel the same I was in so much pain. I can go on and on but today I feel better not only mentally but physically my back doesn't hurt as much I've only lost 7 pounds but I'm looking forward to feeling better as I lose more weight ... I know eventually I'm not going to regret doing this <3

You may not want to hear this, but it took me a whole month to stop regretting the surgery. I felt the same way as you, plus I was sick the entire first month. I pray that you don't have the same experience as me, but now at 4 months out I'm so happy I got the sleeve! I've lost more than 60 lbs. Things will get better at some point! I wish you the best of luck and stay strong! You made a great decision ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
