I was asking about my insurance coverage and I am only covered for one day in the hospital? It just seemed to me like that was a short amount of time after the surgery?anyone else go home the next day?

I just had surgery on Monday and was released Tuesday. All is well, I thought initially that it was too soon, but I'm doing great.

I spent 2 nights in the hospital and am glad I did. I needed the 2 nights to recuperate in order to withstand the ride home in the car. Maybe I'm just a wimp though because a lot of people on this board hop onto various planes and cars and travel thousands of miles after surgery and a night in the hospital. I would just recommend making sure that you are doped up on pain medicine for the ride home. I was really happy about leaving the hospital though because I didn't get any sleep in the hospital. It was just so nice to be home in my own bed without doctors and nurses waking me every hour.

I work on a surgical unit as an RN. Lots of surgeries, including hysterectomies, appendectomies and gallbladder removals only stay for 24 hours if there is no complication. Lap band surgery is an out-patient procedure. The rule of thumb is, if your pain is controlled, you can walk, pee and tolerate your diet- you are good to go.

I was sleeved 10/11/12 and my BC/BS covered all but $1000 and I only had to pay $500 of that (plus co-pays). My dr. said it was a 2 night hospital stay, but insurance spproval letter stated only one. My surgery was at 9:30 am, by 7 pm that night, my dr. came by-said I looked wonderful and would go home the next day. I hadn't had my leak test yet, so I was surprised! My test was fine and I was released by 3:00 the day after surgery. The ride home was awful, but to sleep in my bed with my family there was comforting. At my 1st post-op visit, I asked how he knew I could go home early and he said he does so many surgeries he can tell by how thepatient is doing right away after recovery. (I was watching tv, reading a magazine when he came by. When you feel too sick to read or watch tv-it's a good indication you need more time. Good luck!

I work in the medical field and have worked with may different surgeons if the insurance only approves 1 day and once the procedure is done and the MD determines to need more time the hospital will request whatever the doctor wants and it is always approved sometimes one day at a time, or the total # of extra days at once...Bottom line is they are NOT gonna just kick you out after 24 if you need more time than that

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
