Hello Juanko and welcome. This is certainly the place to come for that information. My suggestion is to read and explore all the threads and ask specific questions.

Congratulations on your banding.

Hi - I am from Melbourne too.

Had my lap band on 26.9.06.

Lost over 16 kgs so far - surgeon says this is on the higher end of normal.

Depending on your size I think that light excercise like walking is better intially - don't want to put to much pressure on those poor knees and hips and ankles.

All the best with it.

:)

Hi, I'm from Melbourne too. I was banded 9 December 2005 and I've lost 30kg - I'm less than 10kg from goal weight now. Its been slow and steady for me.

I've been running regularly to shift the weight and have gotten totally addicted to it, I can run about 10kms now, which is something I never ever thought I'd be able to do. Its actually easy!! Again, I've just built up slowly and steadily.

Whereabouts in Melbourne are you? There's a few of us here.

I am in the eastern suburbs (Box Hill North) but I had my band done at the Avenue in Windsor by Wendy Brown. Were are you and were did you have your surgery?

I can't imagine ever running to the corner let alone 10 kms - well done.

Cheers

Amanda

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
