I have an appointment on Friday with my NUT and the PA. it is my final appointment before my case is submitted to insurance. I have been on a supervised diet for five months and lost 12 pounds, which the NUT seemed happy with. At my last appointment they told I neede to lose 5 pounds before my next appointment to help me with approval. Well I have had a stressful month with a death in my family which lead to a long rode trip and beinging surounded by food for a few days. It started with a day of losing focus that led to a couple weeks and not only not losing the 5 pounds but gaining 5 back so now I am 10 pounds away from where I should be, so my question is should I call and postpone my appointment? I hate to do it because it will probably be another month before I can get in againl I am so mad at myself!!

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated...

Not that I'm advising a crash-diet or anything, but you could always try to substitute out some shakes for meals. If regaining is going to put your approval in jeopardy, then I'd put it off, but you can always talk to your NUT about it. Call them, get the answers you need.

Yes, I would go on Protein Shake or clear liquid diet for Friday & not put it off! Only put off, if you can't maintain strict diet but if you are unable to do it now how will you if you are approved for surgery? I will say it is hard but you have to really want a better life than a bite of food! Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
