Thinking Of Not Doing It,

Recommended Posts

I am at a BMI of 31.5 and making sure I don't go below before my surgery. If I go under 30.5 I know Alvarez would not have done it and Dr. Ponce won't either. I think the op needs to really make sure this is something she really needs. Like I said I have been planning and researching this for two years so I know I am ready in my mental and physical state. Good luck to all.

I am pretty much the same stats as you. I am 5'3 and I weigh 178 pounds. I would like to get down to about 120-125. I have battled my weight my whole life and have done every diet under the moon including giving myself shots of Hcg. I will lose 10 pounds for a little while and gain it all back.

I am getting this surgery even with only little to lose because I have high cholesterol' date=' high blood pressure and signs of pre diabetes. The only time I have ever been a healthy weight it was because of other factors like Phen-Phen and when I got really sick and needed my gall bladder removed because it was mush and infected.

I think you should get the surgery if you want but get your ducks in a row beforehand so you are really mentally prepared. I have been researching and planning this for 2 years. I am ready little to lose or not.[/quote']

Just curious. I'm 5'3 also with a fairly small frame I think and I have 100 lbs on you, which such a low BMI were you offered the band as a first choice or anything? My surgeon is big on goal specific surgeries, that's why I ask :)

I know it's my bias, but for the OP I would seriously think of what can be done with your 30ish pounds that doesn't require surgical intervention. If you're thinking it's not practical or realistic, such a commitment is mostly likely not for you. At least not at this stage in your life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
