I Feel Hungry All The Time

I had surgery on 11/1/12. I feel hungry. Is this normal? I feel I need more than a Protein shake, yogurt or broth which is my week 2 diet. Any suggestions?

Your stomach may be gurgling, it just went through major trauma, but it is most unlikely hunger.

I had surgery the same day and feel the same way. I've been on soft food since day 2 but that hunger just doesn't seem to go away. Ignoring it isn't hard though. I'm sticking to the plan that I was given hungry or not.

It takes a while for the ghrelin to completely leave your system. I felt that way almost 2 mnths after surgery but it goes away. It was also indigestion mimicking hunger pain and when I got on protonix it went away

I have my post-op appt w/ my surgeon tomorrow. I will ask about this.

Just so I'm understanding correctly, if I can hear and feel my stomach "growl" it's actual hunger and not head hunger right? I see a lot if people say it's head hunger but I'm pretty sure I'm really hungry. I can hear it.

I went to my f/u appt yesterday & was told what I am feeling is not hunger but is a sign of dehydration. I was told to drink at least 3 bottles of Water each day & this will subside. He is right that I have not been drinking enough.

Sometimes early out its hard to tell hunger from gas. How long after you eat do you feel like that?

I think broth is fine..they gave me broth in hospital.

I feel like I am hungry alot too. I have started snacking on celery and radishes. Very low cal and I love them. I do make sure I get at least 60 grams of protein in as well.
