I had bruchetta chicken burger at red robin tonight with lettuce wrap instead of bun and borocolli instead of fries. The chicken had melted cheeze on it. Do you think I am going to have a problem with the melted cheese. Ate about 1/2 to hit around 4-5 oz, but feeling super full. This is the most I have eaten so far in 4 months since losing my stomach. I remembered not to eat melted cheese after doing it per NUT during pre-op NUT class.

Tongue in cheek- will I expect to go to the ER because of blockage? First time eating melted cheese since surgery.

How are you feeling now? Any reflux or stomach pains?

My doc told me dairy was fine, especially so far out. I don't see why it would be a problem. Especially just one piece. Are you having "blockage" problems?

Don't worry yourself over it. What's done is done, and hopefully there will be no bad effects. You'll probably be fine:)

Just a lot of rumbles in the stomach. That is pretty normal for me after eating chicken. I could hook a mike and amplifier up to my stomach and put the fear of God into people it is so loud.

Thanks for the reassurance. It is the first brain dead thing I have done post op. Just wasn't my usual careful self.

Wow I eat melted cheese all the time. I have no problems but didn't know that we were not supposed to eat melted cheese. I wouldn't worry.

Yeah, my NUT was pretty adamant about it and she knows what she is talking about. I have found her to be very wise in my WLS journey so far.

I eat melted cheese almost every day. It's a good source of Protein just have to watch the fat content. I am only 4 weeks out and it digests just fine.

I have no idea why they said not to eat melted cheese. I've never heard that in all the years I've been coming to weight loss surgery boards.

Lots of people have melted cheese on refried Beans, and a lot of people mix it in with their eggs. I've never heard of anyone having problems or that they were ever told not to do this.

The reason the NUT gave was that the melted cheese can ball up and block the valve where food empties from stomach into intestine.

I'm only 3 weeks out and I have had melted cheese this whole week with no problems whatsoever. I also have a regular BM every morning right before the gym.

The melted cheese theory sounds like it would be more for someone who has had the gastric bypass. They no longer have the pyloric valve - just a "created" opening.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
