I am here in Mexico now and just a suggestion for those about to book this or dates not quite set in stone or even a possible last minute change idea....

I opted for the hospital 2 nights upfront and did same day surgery, my flight arrived 11am and had it done that same afternoon, arrived on an empty stomach, so I got it out of the way, then after those 2 nights in the hospital/miHospital, I had 3 in the hotel which left me to pack up and repack only twice and less hassle from coming to hotel, then only to pack up the next day to go have surgery for only 2 nights hotel... I have used these past 3 nights in the hotel for resting, relaxing and even site seeing!! The staff comes here to visit you even after, it was nice to get the hospital part over with and now chill in luxury! And on the very rare chance their is an issue, you have more recooperation time after to be further in the clear.

Dr. Garcia and his staff were amazing, I cannot say enough good things about them and Alma and the Ready4Achange staff has been nothing but first class!!

Thanks for the idea. My flight will be in sa diego at 9:15am so i am not sure how long it will take to cross the border. That suggestion will work out great for me. Thanks again for the heads up. :)

I haven't been sleeved yet. I am scheduled for May 11th. There a bunch of people who have had the revision that are really happy. I would check out the band to sleeve revision board and talk to some of the vets! I am positive this will be the best thing for me. Anything is better than this band!!!

Yes, initially I lost 100lbs. Then had a slip and erosion which ended in removal. After getting my band replaced a year later (after gaining all my weight back), my second band just never worked like my first one did. Took me a long time to decide on revision and waited a few years while I had my children, but I am finally ready and can't wait! Good luck to you!!! :)

Crossing into Mexico takes minutes, no lines in the morning, it's going home which can take hours!

Just posting to keep tabs on this conversation. Even though I have decided to go to MX with Dr. F. Garcia and get the SVSG if I have it done ...I'm just still on the fence.

1)Wondering how far in the future i should schedule?

2) Amy posted that she is hospitalized because she has blood clots? I'm sure this is rare but i'm wondering what the follow up is after surgery in MX? and if my insurance will cover me if there are any complications.

3) Can anyone share Dr. F. Garcias - pre op & post op plan/recommendations (diet, exercise).

My plan lose 20 lbs before surgery

Start at 1600-1800 calories and reduce 200 calories per week then alternate between 1000-1200

Eat 4-6 small meals with 2 oz protien & 2 oz complex carb 3 times a day, one Protein Drink, 1 fruit snack & 1 green snack (to total 6) using smaller utensils & plates

Stop drinking while I'm eating,

Weight training/calisthenics 3 times a week and yoga, barre, biking, walking

Reduce/eliminate no sugar, sodium, soy, gluten, msg, gmo

No soda

coffee?

tea okay?

LaserSkinGirl thanks for posting. I have also opted for "Same Day Surgery". My plane arrives at 12:30; I was a little worried about being late for testing, but Alma said that I would be fine. I will stay two nights in the hospital and 1 night in the hotel. I want to get back home. I told my boss that I would be having surgery, did not mention what type, but asked if it was okay to work from home until I felt I was ready to come back to work. I was planning on returning to work the next day after I arrived home, just want the extra time if needed.

There are some good Youtube videos, they also call it the spider procedure.

I did ask him about it and he said it is mostly cosmetic and the surgery itself takes a bit longer. Plus it does cost more too. For me, I think I will stick with the 4 incision surgery. For 1, I don't like anything touching my belly button, so think I would get the willies and grossed right out especially having to have the drain tube out that hole. 2 reason is I will probably have to have a Tummy Tuck when it is all said and done, which would remove all the scars from the surgery anyways. Just the conclusion and decidion I have come to.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
