I had my surgery on August 28, 2012. I am 5'3 and started at 275lbs. I am 2 months out and currently weigh 241. While I am happy about the weight loss, I don't see it.

I eat around 600 calories average per day, mostly Protein And I drink Water constantly. I am averaging only1 lb a week. I have never nada stall but I am frustrated because .5-1 lb a week is slow! Anybody have advise on how to get my body moving a little faster????

Of the calories that you are eating, how much is lean Protein? If I mostly eat lean protein, it works a lot better for me:)

I don't know if I can offer advise but my story is similar. I started out gung whow for three weeks then hit a stall for 10 days and it has been slow going from there. I eat 600-800 calories a day and am only having Protein with what ever carbs in food(yogurt). I exercise every day drink at least 64 ounces of Water. I have at least 40 more pounds to lose and I thought also that I would be losing a little faster. I can only asssume that my metabolism is so low now that I need much fewer calories to maintain. I don't know what another explanation could be. Hormonal is the other side, many say their hormones are awack in the beginning, maybe this is playing a part to.

All I know is that we have to keep doing what we are doing and not give up or give in. Keep eating healthy, exercising, drinking water, tracking food/erercise; with this we can only succeed. If we ask ourselves in 6 months from now how we are doing I am sure we will say that we have lost XXXXX amount of weight and feel great!!

I think that is what it is all about!

Hang in there we CAN do this!!

You've lost 34 lbs. in two months, so not every week has been .5-1 lb. Our bodies do have slow weeks, but if you are eating right (agree with making sure the calories are lean protein!) and drinking enough Water, the weight will come off.

Look at your total instead of the last week or two. Try on some smaller clothes and look at yourself in a mirror from the back. I found that helped me see the weight loss. When looking at myself or looking at my front in a mirror, I still don't see my true size. And my clothes still look too small to fit me, but they are not tight.

along with what others have said, are you taking your Vitamins, especially the B12. If you are doing everything the doc has told you then you should be alright. Everyone has the slow down where their bodies are adjusting to the new sleeve and lower calories. My NUT told me that the body was going thru the starvation mode and to keep up the good Proteins, watch the bad or as she called them "soft carbs" and keep up with the fluids and exerecise. I broke thru in about a week, but others take longer. Good Luck

Your progress is not slow or fast - it is yours. It is not the worse thing to lose at a moderate pace.

Make sure you are getting in Water, exercize and sleep.< /p>

Sleep is so underrated at in this process. You need a daily, even, consistently timed sleep to do your best. I have sleep issues (narcolepsy - contrary to popular misrepresentation you do not sleep all the time, sometimes far from it) and it affects my metabolism alot. I also find fatigue leaves me open to goof ups, slips and such...it also affects my mood.

Water is key just because we are supposed to be, at any size, a certain proportion water/body mass (non water materials). without it we can do noting quite as well as we should. if you do not have enough water in your body, even if you break down fat your body will hold onto other materials...it is a complicated process.

I constantly keep a tshirt just too slightly tight to wear - not that would burst at the seams and distort the size, but tight enough that I try it on, take a pic, put it away for a couple/few weeks. If I ever have to wonder if I am losing - or see that I am not so I can adjust - I can see it in the tshirts better than I ever did in the scales.< /p>

If you did only ever lose an average of 4 lbs a month from here out - that would be 48 lbs a year. that is 100 lbs in two years - where would you be if you didn't lose it? It is excellent progress, and the final goal weight is a big deal (pun intended), but not the only thing. I have learned this lesson well.

Good point. Sleep is my biggest blocker to faster weight loss and fewer stalls. Last night was 5 hours. I need to be more disciplined about sleeping more so not tired during the day and metabolism works a little better. Somebody clone me so there is 1/2 the daily work to get through.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
