My biggest fear is that I won't lose any weight after the surgery. I have surgery 3 weeks from today and am scared that I'll be the ONE to not lose weight. Is this a common fear? Any advice? I see sooo many people out here that are success stories and am worried I won't be one.

Bev your worrying for no reason. You will definitely lose weight, even before you begin to exercise. It will be hard to even reach your calories in the beginning. Think positive, your going to be joining us on the losers bench real soon.

Everyone fears that but it is physically impossible to not loss weight when you are taking in less than 500 calories a day for the first 2 weeks and 800 calories during week 3-8. The first week you may not see a change because you are pumped up with soooooo much fluids. I actually left the hospital 10 lb heavier and so did myhusband, who just had surgery last Monday. He now down 20 lbs, 10 lbs of Water and 10 lbs of fat. You will do fine. Just don't freak out like I did when I left the hospital. I looked and felt like a giant water ballon. :D

Yes! I am 2 months post-op and I have the fear that every pound I lose is just Water or it'll be the last one.

That thought crossed my mind then. 8 months later I am 3 pounds from goal. The biggest fear was that I would be fainting from starving. Didn't happen, I'm stronger than I have been in 35 years.

Your fear has a formidable opponent named science. It is not absolutely impossible that you would not lose weight but it is more impossible than Nancy Pelosi changing to Republican.:D

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
