Going for it on October 24th

Recommended Posts

This is my first post...so glad I found this forum! I am scheduled and ready to go. Really don't know what to expect in the beginning. Have a couple of girlfreinds who have done lapband and have been so happy with the results. I will go for pre-op on the 17th- hopefully I will feel better informed then. Dr Spiegel in Houston is my surgeon. Am completely confident in his ability to get it perfect. So far, feel like the process (signing up/seminar) seems like bit of a cattle call, but hope to have my opinion changed on the 17th when I spend more time at the clinic. Looking forward to finding the old me again when I peel back some of these fat layers.:biggrin1:

That is great news. I do think he is great at what he does and am glad to hear that others have been very pleased. Can't believe I am really gonna do it! YIKES!

Doing well. Today is my last day of "real" food for a while. Tomorrow I am on liquids in preparation for my surgery. Still can hardly believe it. It is a pretty radical thing to do! I am ready for it....mostly ready to start feeling and looking better. Will update after my surgery on Tuesday. YIKES!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
