I am also loving shrimp and I'm 8 weeks out! I even take just 4 boiled shrimp with some lemon for lunch because it doesn't take much planning! Throw some Greek yogurt or a boiled egg with it and I'm ready to go! I've also been grilling it and trying it with different spices, my whole family loves shrimp so it is a win, win!

I get the bags of Gortons grilled shrimp and tilapia and keep in the freezer at work. I heat them in the microwave for s meal or a snack. Low cal and lots of Protein. Morning Star veggie burgers are good too for a quick meal. I can eat half with some cottage cheese and salsa melted on top...yum

Does anyone else eat beef Jerky?

I do! I do!

Just watch the carbs in the flavored ones.

We have a butcher shop by us the sells ostrich jerky and it has 14grams of Protein per ounce.

I usually only use it if I'm traveling and in a pinch.

Blackened Trout topped with red pepper garlic shrimp!!

I live in New Orleans and I usually make sometypr of fish (blackened or fried) topped with a garlic cream sauce. Well i started my pre op diet (Two shakes and one low carb meal) and my husband wanted fish so I got creative.

I took the trout and blackened it using Zatarains Blackened Seasoning (followed the directions on the back). I used EVOO and a castiron skillet heated in the oven til 500 degrees took it out then added the EVOO in the skillet. let it heat up alittle more then blackened the fish.

While the skillet was in the oven I took some garlic and onion with EVOO cooked til clear added shrimp ( i used fresh) and a cap full of crab boil cooked teh shrimp then I added paul prudhomme louisana red pepper sauce cooked down until thick.

I blackened the fish and poured the garlic pepper shrimp on top it was sooooo good and easy!

My nut said most people can't tolerate it and discouraged me from eating it but it does not bother me and it is a good snack. I love ostrich sticks. I get them when I am at work. There is a GNC next door.

Spouses...they're hell' date=' but ya gotta love them :P I was impressed with you until the second post.

I can't eat frozen fish anything (too many years in alaska...I'm a fish snob!) but we get fresh here pretty much year round. One of my favorite dinners is jumbo prawns (spot are delicious if you can get them) peeled and wrapped with a small piece of proschitto. Grill or cook in a salamander until just done (the proschitto will be cooked but still soft) and enjoy with a ripe cantaloupe or honey dew melon. You want to have maybe 3 of these with less than a 1/4 cup of diced melon. It's a full meal and the flavor combination of sweet, salty and savory is beyond compare! The melon must be ripe and sweet or it's a waste of a melon.

Another great Protein is salmon. I prefer white king :P but that's hard to find. I only eat fresh salmon so I don't recommend frozen, even flash frozen because it can get tougher. We like to grill ours and then make a garlic, lemon, butter and caper sauce. Salmon is one of the top ten foods with Protein per gram so you get TONS of protein from a small amount. The trick with salmon (or any fish really) is to NOT cook it until it's flaky throughout (which is far overcooked). It should be a soft pink inside and marked from the grill outside. Any fish is much easier on your tummy if it's cooked properly, including salmon.

Look for king salmon if you can get it. Russian River king is the most available in the lower 48 with a high, healthy! fat content. If you ever are in alaska look for Kuskokwim King, which are the cream of the crop for salmon. The river is very cold and strong so the fish have to develop a lot of fat to survive (much like Russian River but even better). You probably would never see that here (I never have) but gad it's like eating ummmm what's the precious stone equivalent...ummmm Diamonds LOL....wait that does not sound good. It's like eating butter :)

Fish fat is very healthy and not at all something to avoid. You don't "see" it, you only taste it in the buttery feel of a fish cooked properly. It's what separates trout from King Salmon on the food chain (the human one heh heh).

I'm waxing poetic about fish! Gad I must need Breakfast.[/quote']

Oooooohhhh the prawn in prochito and melon sounds yum, will defo be trying this in a few weeks. Xxx

Hi all, I'm about 3 weeks out and I'm returning all my Protein Powder and vitimins, they make me sick. I'm dying to have shrimp, next week ill get some . I bought Flinstones vitimins and they are better. Ugh it hasn't been easy . I hate the feeling of having a lump in my throat and being nauseas. Some days I feel fine and some I'm so down because I hate everything I have to drink/eat. Seafood is gonna be such a pleasure to have. I've lost 27 pounds !

Bubba: Anyway' date=' like I was sayin', shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There's uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp Soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich, and bariatric shrimp. That- that's about it.

Hilarious!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
