Advice About New Insurance W/ Open Enrollment

Recommended Posts

My company is switching to a new insurance company in January that covers the sleeve. Thing is..they're two plans 1. High Deductible and 2. Buy up plan. Both covers the procedure! Idk which one to pick. The high ded.plan has a 1500 deductible but the buy up deductible is 500. Should I get the buy up but the premium is high..or the cheaper one with high ded. My ins. Is BCBS of WNY.

The only real way is to create a spreadsheet showing the whole year and add up the premiums from each. Then see how much lower your deductible has to be to make up for the difference in premiums. I wouldn't try to figure it out in my head. Better to lay all the math out and see what comes up.

I just called up the insurance company...i think I might go with the buy up plan..the premium is higher but when it comes down to the out of pocket at surgery I have much less to come up with :)

While you're at it, consider a flexible spending account. I had 2 surgeries this year, and only paid a little over $300 total for both, because I used all of my flexible spending on them.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
