I see Dr Matthew St. Laurent, he works at both Methodist Willowbrook and North Cypress. I can't say enough good things about this man. Great bedside manner, he sat and actually listened, let me finish my thoughts first and then provided an answer! What a great feeling. I left his office and on the way out I said "dr I am so happy with you I'm fixin to give you a hug" he stopped looked at me and simply said "let's have it! The world needs more hugs"

I used Dr. Mirza and he was awesome! Very calm, patient and understanding. He answered every question I had and then some!

Hi i am scheduled for November 20th 2012 and I have been told that my surgeon Dr. Felix Spiegel is one of the best and that the hospital University General is a very good bariatric hospital. The office staff has been wonderful to me and answering all my questions when I call constantly with just one more question. LOL. So far so good for a surgeon in Houston.

How was your experience with him

I was self pay for my revision....so my price was more than the typical VSG.....but Dr. Yu has self pay packages as well, his office is very helpful in telling you up front what you will be responsible for before surgery....

I have Dr. Sherman Yu. He looks pretty young but has an excellent bedside manner and doesn't rush you out of his office. The ladies at his office are also very helpful with those "I was just wondering" questions! :)

It's good to hear positive things from there office. I'm on my 5th weight management class I need next month and its sleeve time =). I'm having mine with Dr. Terry Scarbourough.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
