To Offer Or Not?

Recommended Posts

I tackled my clothes closet today. Wow!!! I only left items that fit now or will fit in my smaller future. No going back clothes! I'll donate the majority of them. Hopefully they'll help a few ladies feel good.

I have a few items, quality business suits that I purchased last fall and are still current and I've only worn once or twice... a few items with tags still attached. I have a casual friend that I know the clothes would fit and would suit but I'm hestitating offering them to her in case she takes offense. For some reason I just can't pull them out and put them in the donate pile.

Sounds stupid I know. I can't believe I'm even taking the time to write this.

Your friend would probably fill like she hit the jack pot. I thought the same thing about my hubby's cousin. She absolutely loved them. :)

Offer them! Just be careful in how you word it. I went through the same dilema just a few days ago. I was careful not to say that the clothes were too big for me now. I just said that I was going through my closet and found a few things that I thought she might like and I'd like to give the clothes to her instead of donating them if she wanted them.

She was thrilled! Most things fit her and she liked them. I donated what she didn't want to a woman's shelter and felt good about both experiences!

Ask her!! Just be kind. Don't say anything about your weight loss. Just keep it simple. Maybe a text or email? 'Hey, I have some clothes that might fit you, are you interested?' That's it. If she says yes, put in a nice bag and hand it to her. Let her take it from there. I really like the KISS theory. Keep it simple.....

My sis is taking all my clothes. :-)

Hi Jen, I would love to get those clothes. I now weigh 223 and nothing fits. I started off weighing 326 when I have VSG on April 29. I was self pay so I don't have $ for more clothes. If you would consider shipping them to me, I can pay shipping. Thank you

I think if you are nice about it, she would like it. She might be happy at her size and might take offense that you thought she would be offended! :P

"I was cleaning out my closet and found a ton of brand new clothes with tags, would you like to come look through them and see if anything works for you or someone you know before I donate them?"

Sure sounds a lot better than, "I lost a ton of weight and am no longer a fatty mcfatterson, so none of this fits. I think you would fit it"

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
