Today I went for an appointment with a general surgeon for gallbladder removal. Got there and they told me no surgery, you are not in pain, not a problem. He thinks that I have something going on with my sleeve. I've been hurting for a while but never complain because I thought that I had weak muscles there and really need to exercise them. I was wrong, I'm scheduled for a ct scan on abdominal area. I remember right after the surgery I actually felt my staple line through my abdominal area. It's been a pain since. Becoming a little more painful these days. Anyways I have to get to the lab 2 hours before my appointment time to drink a liter of Fluid. If they can't find anything, then the surgeon wants to schedule an endoscopy. Blah! I really didn't like this surgeon, he was really arrogant. I think I might want to change docs for this.......:(

I am doing really well. The pain is not too bad. Just some times during the day. I know it's not Constipation, I have a BM on a daily basis. That's back to normal. I get a pain in left side, lower back that is not really bad. I'm more worried about drinking a liter of Fluid before the CT. Then if nothing shows up, he wants to do an endoscopy. I know it's not uncomfortable, but it's a pain in the behind. I doubt that it's a leak at this time. But if so, hey, maybe I will lose the 4 lbs when they fix it. :) I'm glad that I don't need to have surgery to remove my gallbladder. :) For some reason, I'm having issues with the general surgeon I had a consult with. He appeared to be very arrogant. I usually don't have any difficulties with doctors that I see. Anyways, thank you so much for asking. Hugs! :)

Hey ms skinniness :)

Is the general surgeon a bariatric surgeon as well?

I really think you should feel good about your surgeon. You want to feel comfy with communication about what's going on with your body.

I wish u the very best!!!

Actually the general surgeon is not a bariatric surgeon. I was referred out by Kaiser to a bariatric surgeon and my year post op is up. I will insist that I have someone who specializes in bariatrics though if i have to have surgery. It's just frustrating right now. :)

I told the guys in radiology that I was a bariatric surgery patient and they didn't make me drink so much contrast. Good luck. Love and blessings to you

In radiology, did you have to go 2 hours before your procedure? They want me to be there 2 hours before the procedure and drink 1 liter of contrast. I think I really need to talk with my PCP and find out what my options are.

My surgeon had advised me if I need contrast/barium for testing that I would drink less than normal.

Can you call your bariatric surgeon and ask?

I'm hoping we can still contact them for help even after a year. I'm only 5 months but I ask them everything.

This is really good to know. i will call my surgeon's office and inquire. My PCP told me that I would be referred back to my bariatric surgeon if surgery is needed. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
