Any suggestions for protein intake?

Recommended Posts

I like to have Protein bars for Breakfast. I'm often in a hurry and don't know how the rest of my day might go so I grab a Detour or U-Turn bar which has about 30 grams of Protein.

I've also become great friends with my local Schwan's delivery man. They have lots of good, individual portion meats which are very tasty and easy to prepare. it's a bit more expensive, but I'm more disciplined if I walk in, turn the oven on, throw in a crab cake, or piece of baked scrod or turkey filet than if I go out to eat or go scrounging for something easy.

Good luck !

Depends what stageyou are at..

I eat scrambled eggs with 2 sausage links every morning, for lunch I either eat a scoop of tuna

or sliced cheese with Peanut Butter or sliced turkey breast with sliced cheese rolled up. I also eat ricotta cheese mixed with Peanut Butter, all kinds of fish, darkmeat chicken, salami with cream cheese, cottage cheese mixed with salsa, Protein bars when I'm pressed for time or want a quick snack. Just some ideas

During my mushy stage I ate liverwurst with mustard (someone here hooked me up with that one.)

I also found a salmon spread at my deli that was really good.

Someone also suggested refried Beans with melted cheese and hot sauce, which went down just fine.

Hummos is also good - but is there sufficient Protein in garbonzo Beans?

A baked egg dish is good too, lil' sprinkled cheese. Darn, hungry now.

If you are still in your mushy phase some blended up chicken salad is good. I just make it homemade and then throw it in the processor for a minute. Great on saltines (if your at the cracker stage) I call it my own version of chicken pate' I add celery, onion, olives, shredded cheese, a little mayo, mustard, salt and pepper.

If you need to track your Protein more, use the fitday program. www.fitday.com. I like the free version. Best of luck, Teresa

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
