June 28, 200422 yr I am sick of cottage cheese and milk for the daily minimum of 60-90 grams of protein besides chicken and fish any suggestions?
June 28, 200422 yr Magnolia: I love that name. I do mushy scrambled eggs in the morning. There are also protein drinks that can give you the protein as well.
June 28, 200422 yr I like to have Protein bars for Breakfast. I'm often in a hurry and don't know how the rest of my day might go so I grab a Detour or U-Turn bar which has about 30 grams of protein. I've also become great friends with my local Schwan's delivery man. They have lots of good, individual portion meats which are very tasty and easy to prepare. it's a bit more expensive, but I'm more disciplined if I walk in, turn the oven on, throw in a crab cake, or piece of baked scrod or turkey filet than if I go out to eat or go scrounging for something easy. Good luck ! Leatha
June 28, 200422 yr Depends what stageyou are at.. I eat scrambled eggs with 2 sausage links every morning, for lunch I either eat a scoop of tuna or sliced cheese with Peanut Butter or sliced turkey breast with sliced cheese rolled up. I also eat ricotta cheese mixed with peanut butter, all kinds of fish, darkmeat chicken, salami with cream cheese, cottage cheese mixed with salsa, Protein bars when I'm pressed for time or want a quick snack. Just some ideas
June 28, 200422 yr During my mushy stage I ate liverwurst with mustard (someone here hooked me up with that one.) I also found a salmon spread at my deli that was really good. Someone also suggested refried Beans with melted cheese and hot sauce, which went down just fine. Hummos is also good - but is there sufficient Protein in garbonzo beans? A baked egg dish is good too, lil' sprinkled cheese. Darn, hungry now.
June 28, 200422 yr I love protein drinks for breakfast! Keep some frozen fruit on hand (peaches, berries, etc.), and fresh bananas. Throw that in a blender with some fat-free milk and protein powder. Toss in a few ice cubes to thicken it. The fruit also helps with your fiber intake. Yummy!! You can also add your liquid vitamins (flax oil, etc.)
June 29, 200422 yr If you are still in your mushy phase some blended up chicken salad is good. I just make it homemade and then throw it in the processor for a minute. Great on saltines (if your at the cracker stage) I call it my own version of chicken pate' I add celery, onion, olives, shredded cheese, a little mayo, mustard, salt and pepper. If you need to track your Protein more, use the fitday program. www.fitday.com. I like the free version. Best of luck, Teresa
