Does anyone know if you can use an HSA account for surgery in Mexico? It works just like a regular bank account. We have a credit card and a checks in order to access the money in the account. As far as I know, we can use it for any medical bills. However, I am not positive about using it for international surgery. I intend to contact our tax guy this week, but I thought some of you may know.

I believe you can.

Have the clinic charge your card a small amount to ensure to works when you get there

The cards are tied to types of locations. It prevents you from using it for gas or beauty salons. Etc.

I used my HSA - just had to let the account know ahead of time that I was going to debit my account for a "non-typical" amount for me.
