Had A Date And My Insurance Wants 6 Documented Diet

Recommended Posts

I wasn't talking about you dear. Jayne mentioned her journal idea which technically would be pushing the line a bit close to the fraud side given you haven't been keeping one so far.

The six month thing is fairly common. You only have three more months to do which is better than the whole six and anything you do lose would get you closer to goal in the end :)

Exactly what I was trying to say. Thanks. Some of us have been overweight for so long and dieted for many years but just did not document it. Now it has to be documented for insurance reasons. Then again some people after their first visits their insuance company request documention from that point on for say 6 months. What I was required was the previous 6 months information which ok i did have to "guesstimate". Insurance requirement vary, and this worked for me.

Forgot to mention, not only did my insurance require the 6 months of supervised diet/weigh ins, but I also had to have my pcp send in the last 5 consecutive years worth of weights. I don't have a pcp, but thankfully I'm very good at seeing my OB every year, and that was acceptable. Just an idea of other things insurance companies might require.

That is true I am using my obgyn for my weight requirement. I went in every 2 weeks till I was 21 weeks prego and my weight was got everytime with what I needed to eat and not eat like bread. So for me it was a life saver. Lol I now have 9mths of supervised weight lose and gain. Good luck to you

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
