Things I Miss ---But No Longer Can Tolerate.

Recommended Posts

I miss spicy food. As soon as I eat it, my chest is on fire. Before the surgery , I would eat jalapeños without a blank of an eye. Now I'm scared too even put a jalepeno by my month.

I'm 9 weeks out, and fear eating lettuce. Hopefully, that will change soon.

Add what you miss...

Bless your heart! I'm still on my liquid post op, but have been putting Frank's Red Hot in my cream Soups - oh so good. Hopefully that's an indication of how I will tolerate spicy when I get to go on solids.

I MISS AVOCADO'S!!!!! I used to eat one for Breakfast every morning in the summer. Now they make me really sick! But you know what? I'm stubborn- I will probably try it again in a few months- or definitely next summer. I am with you on the spicy foods- I love them but I haven't tried them yet. I think you just talked me in to waiting a little longer than I wanted to wait ;)

I miss hanburger and salads! I think I will wait a month or so before I try the hamburger. I progressed too fast on some other protiens and I am lucky I didnt cause damage to my stomach! I think I read that we can't have lettuce til six months out...EAK :(

Being fat.

Oh no, wait a minute, I don't miss that at all!

I am no fun, I LOVE the sleeve and find myself bewildered at my lack of interest in chocolate but not at all missing it.

Every time I even get a twinge of missing something or wanting something I remind myself how fantastic I feel and it becomes real easy to remember I love me more than I loved food.

Oh and I crave chilli and eat it like nobody's business!

I have to be honest ... The only thing I really want to eat is Protein. I'm amazed at how I hardly want anything else.. Well of course the spicy stuff and lettuce.

WOW, 6 months before lettuce? Really? My surgeon says anything is good after week 7. How long does your surgeon have you on liquids post-op?

I miss big sandwiches. I mean the kind with thick homemade bread. I could tolerate perhaps a bite of that, but I can't eat much bread at all so it's just not the same. Another thing that's changed a lot is that I used to LOVE coconut Water. Now for some reason, I can't stand the taste of it. It tastes totally different to me now. I don't know why. lol

I was on liquids for 6 days but only because they didnt tell me I only needed liquids the day after surgery then I could go to mushies. After one week I was on soft foods and havent had any issues. 6 months seems incredibly long especially since I am eating and digesting protien with out a problem. I will give lettuce a try week 7 and see how it goes!

So after one week you were eating mushy foods? Can you give me an example of what u ate? I was sleeved Oct 2nd & there are so many contradictions on what u can and can't eat.

The food phases go like this:

liquids

then FULL liquids-cream Soups, cream of wheat, Jello, pudding

then pureed-tuna, canned meats, soft luncheon meats, egg salad, cottage cheese

then soft-same as above but not pureed and chicken, ground meats

then all foods

it is important not to miss a step as you are helping your new stomach digest the new phases of foods. Going too quickly can cause you harm, it is not worth the risk taken.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
