Im Down Too A Size 14 Was A 22...just One Question... Soda

Recommended Posts

My Dr. has been involved with testings/studies involving "Can soda stretch your sleeve" and they said No it does not. Their main concern is all the artificial sweeteners and it striking a sweet craving that gets out of control. They obviously don't want you to have it, but if you choose to have it they recommend pouring it over ice and letting it flatten out some first. Maybe if your craving is really bad do like they suggested with the Slurpee/Icee or take only one or two sips to get it to go away, but you still be in control!

Best wishes!

Ok I love research. My question is if they say it doesn't stretch your sleeve- why do they care if your pour over ice and flatten?

I think because the carbonation can cause bad gas pain. Not for everyone, but I know it does for me, even 2 years post op. Do I have it once in a while? Yeah, its a treat and I enjoy it. But I only have a few sips of my husband's and never order my own and don't keep it in the house. Everyone has their own idea of the way they want to eat and live post-op. If you really want it, have a little. Just don't get into a 6-pack a day habit!

We have a Sodastream at home, which we use mostly to make sparkling Water (sometimes flavored with a little bit of citrus juice). I'm slowly weaning myself from my beloved Coke Zero, but I expect after I get to a certain point after surgery that I will probably go back to drinking a bit of sparkling water - it's a treat without having to deal with artificial sweetners or boatloads of sugar.

nothing is "bad period" as long as moderation is used.

my doc (the good one) and i were discussing champagne day 3 after my second surgery. he said the main issue is discomfort due to trapped gas so give it some time after surgery and dont drink it with food....let it slide down through easily. i imagine soda would be much the same.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
