When Did You Feel Yourself?

Recommended Posts

is this normal?...

i just talked with my doc yesterday about getting the sleeve... i imagined being able to get back to bodybuilding well before 8 months out... (i'm a female, i know my comment there makes it sound very masculine, but i assure you folks i'm a girl. lol) anyway.. wow.. :/ if and when i get sleeved, i want to return to exercising as soon as humanly possible. how long are you usually weak like this? :( i don't mean that as offensively as it came out... (i don't mean it to be offensive at all, honestly).. just shocking that you can't do crunches or situps and it's 2/3 of a year!

I am not offended at all. I have been wondering about it myself. While considering it tonight I think I figured it out.

I went through 45 external beam radiation treatments in 2009 for prostate cancer. I know it weakened my hip muscles, that was evident early on. I believe it weakened my lower stomach muscles as well. As I exercise it is getting better, just very slowly.

So my experience may very well not be yours as I believe the soreness is not related to the sleeve.

I didn't read what everyone else wrote. I have had two c sections and it is sorta the same but with VSG I was TIRED more than with my c sections. I would say you are will be fine just as long as you can nap ... heck I feel asleep every time I sat down and I am never like that. I took me a whole 6 weeks to not be exhausted.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
