Recommended Posts

Is it normal 3 weeks out to wake up each morning with stomach pain. Not gas it's a dull to sometimes intense pain after I'm up and moving for an hour or so it disappears. Normal?

Is this at the incision sites, or is it deeper, like where your stomach is?

The fact that it goes away is a pretty good sign. It's likely that you sleep in an awkward position, or maybe you toss & turn a lot which creates extra stress on your incisions.

But with some of the complications we've seen lately, from twisted stomachs to leaks that caused some miserable experiences I do have to say, if this is not distinguishable as incision pain go see your doctor. And if they seem dismissive, don't hesitate to get a second opinion.

It's not insisions it is deeper inside. I to toss and turn a lot I haven't slept well but a couple of nights since surgery. My doctor is 4 hrs away I'm going to call them today.

It could be scar tissue below the incisions. This bothered me for about 3 weeks.

I'm having it too, Its like a dull aching, especially when I breathe in deep. I think maybe it's just still a little swollen. I was wondering if I was filling it up too much with mushies and it was stretching and sore. I am really paranoid about that right now because I can't tell when I'm full until I am stuffed. I know, I know I'm still working on the signals. It also seems to hurt more (or maybe again its subconcious) when I seem to sleep on the side my stomach is. Hoping its just still soreness from surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
