Subdermal Incision Site Knots

Recommended Posts

I don't mind the idea of tiny scars. My incisions are super tiny. My surgeon used some type of surgical glue or liquid skin so I have no stitches and no drain. My main incision is a little larger and still hurts but the others have healed on the surface, are slightly puffy and itch. The thing that is bothering me are the hard, marble sized knots under my skin. Do they go away? If I massage them will it create irritation or work the inflamation out?

I'm hoping that after having had two c-sections, this procedure won't seem as bad to me. C-sections cannot be done laproscopically and they cut deep into your lower abdominal muscle.

Hey Delta, I have one area near my main incision that is still a little swollen and sore. They told me I had a hematomia (sp?) basically bleeding in the muscle tissue. It's not non common and should take a few more weeks than the other bruising to heal. they just told me to keep an eye on it and if it become a lot more tender or hot to the touch then come back in.

I had a myomectomy and this is nothing like having your bikini line cut open and work done inside.

This is completely normal. The incision sites are sutured internally with dissolving sutures. They will smooth out over the next couple months.

My incision sites are the same. I think it's totally normal. Besides the incisions I have some severe bruising and pressure marks so I think maybe they used some kind of clamps too which might be contributing to the knot under the skin. Thinking it's just all how our body deals with trauma.

I've had two c-sections as well. This is a cake walk (AND I get to sleep after this surgery)!

I am so thankful my surgery and recovery is going so well and do proud of all my fellow Octosleevers.

Love the "cake walk" comment and sleeping afterwards!!!

I have the same knots! So glad to know they will go away, but they don't really bother me. I just figured they might be there forever. :) Thanks!

Are these knots the same as the thread like stitches? I can see a little bit of the thread sticking out of three of the scars. They will dissolve right? Lol...

The threads sticking out will eventually fall off.

Had those too... I was like Hmmmmmm what the heck are these lol

The little knots are much smaller now. I've been putting Palmer's cocoa butter on them twice a day. It is also supposed to reduce the signs of scars, not that these tiny incisions will make much to call a scar except for the main one.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
