At 7 months out my drink of choice is vodka soda with lime so I dont drink a lot of sugar. I stir it a lot to kill the carbonation some. At 3 months I could only really tolerate wine. I tried vodka cranberry, skinny margaritas and blood Marys which all gave me heartburn. If heartburn isn't an issue for you worth a try.

Vodka and Water (or whatever alcohol you like) and stir in your own crystal light flavor. You get the alcohol without any carbonation and you choose the flavor. Hope this helps you out :D

Is drinking worth it on the sleeve? I used to drink quite a bit pre sleeve I think to fill empty voids in my life. Work was one stress after another when we did not know if the company would be around in a week due to the horrid economic conditions. Fortunately, I am in a much bigger and more stable company now. My point is, why not find some other ways to fill the empty voids? I was not always a drinker before the sleeve. In fact, it came on just a few years ago. One cocktail turned into a beer every day turned into quite a bit of hard liqueur. I am so glad to be done with that. It was just cold turkey. i decided not to be that person any longer. yes, There are days when I still look over at my liqueur stash ( my wife still drinks), but I hardly want it any more. The old head desires sometimes come back, but I am a new person now with a much brighter and new outlook on life. I am just trying to offer an opinion from my point of view. You can take it or leave it. If it helps you, then great.

I'm with ya on the alcohol, Andy. Had a good friend who had bypass and choose drink over food and died at 43 from alcohol poisoning...just not worth it to me!! too easy to switch addictions...I'd rather deal with my food issues with a clear mind. I go to Happy Hour regularly with friends, they are just as happy with iced tea and lemon. I do have other friends who are sleevers and they do drink wine in moderation...as Woody Allen says "what ever works".

Went to see the Star Wars movie yesterday. (Glad I waited as no one else was in the cinema for the midday session - yes!) Hadn’t been to the cinema for a few months and OMG I suffered the most terrible butt pain.  So uncomfortable. Started after 30 mins. Was in the premium cinema so grabbed a cushion to sit on but it didn’t help. Ended up sitting sideways in the chair, stretched out on an ottoman. Soooo super glad no one else was there. Sometimes I do miss my old butt fat cushioning... but not really.

I have a surgery date, I have my next doctor appointment on Wed and then Thursday I start my 2 week liquid pre-op diet. I am very nervous right now. I know it's going to be a tough mind game.
