Lost A Bunch The First Week And Nothing The 2Nd Week! Help...

Recommended Posts

Can anyone advise? I lost 15 lbs the first week after my surgery and have not lost a pound since. I am at 2.5 weeks out. When I started soft foods, I gained 3 lbs immediately, then lost that 3 lbs this past week, but have not gone down again in weight. Is this normal, semi-normal, unusual? Any insight is helpful! Thanks.

I just started soft foods two days ago and the scales not budging. I have a feeling if I dont tweak somethings I too will not be losing weight. Have you followed the eating plan exactly how your surgeon suggested as for as serving sizes and foods allowed? If so, are you weighing your food on a scale? Also are you tracking your food on myfitnesspal or some other calorie tracker that gives a daily total of the calories consumed and Protein? Sorry for all the questions. Just hoping to learn from your experience. I haven't been weighing food just eye balling and I sometimes miss a day tracking what I eat, especially when I snack that day :/

I'm having the same issue! Getting kind of worried. But my friend that had the sleeve said she started losing a good amount 2 months after surgery. I guess everyone loses differently.

I lost a majority of my weight in the 1st 2 months, averaging between 2-4 lbs a day. I was also walking quite a bit and I think that helped. During the 3rd mon I have been hit by stall after stall. However, I am a man with a plan to ramp up the exercise! I have lost about 100 lb so far so it is time to kick my BMR in the rear and tell it to get moving.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
