Pcp Agrees With Me About Needing Wls!

Recommended Posts

just thought i would come on here and tell everyone about my doctors visit today with my pcp. I went today to talk with her about wls and was very nervous because i was worried that she wouldn't think that it was necessary and tell me to go on weight watcher or something like my mom said. i have a few health issues and i'm only 29 years old and she said due to my health issues and my minor disability which makes working out hard and i'm very limited right now. i've got a bad back and she is worried that if i keep herniating discs then i may end up having to have spinal fusion one day and that really worries her and me of course. she said that she 110% supports me and thinks that I need the surgery and i'm in crunch time and need to get this weight off sooner than later. She said she will do anything pre and post op to help me and keep me healthy and on the right track ..it was just such a relief to have my feelings validated by someone especially my dr. whom i trust and who really seems to get me. i just really made me happy because i only have 1 person that seems to understand this avenue and that is really is my only GOOD option...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
