Got My Date 11/05/12 Going From Band To Sleeve..

Recommended Posts

Who are you telling I had a drain that was left in for 8 days that was so uncomfortable 10 mgs of Percocet wouldn't help. I got pneumonia was hospitalized for 4 days no other complications other than that.. When the drain came out I started feeling 100% better no nausea I've been drinking well. Hope you're feeling better

So Cal.. Why did you have a tube

Due to all the trauma of surgery the body creates lots of excess Fluid that needs to be taken out via a JP drain. I had my lapband removed and converted over to a sleeve same procedure.. Hence the need for the drain.

Oh wow..my Dr wouldn't do a same day procedure. He said he wanted my body to rest a bit, so i rested one month.. But i still felt weak and maybe that's why the sleeve kicked my butt. And i think you said the correct word TRAUMA.

Hi, don't get too stressed about having the drain out....make sure you have had some pain relief and follow the Nurse's instructions as she/he removes it. You may feeling a tugging sensation, but it only lasts a minute and if the Nurse is good at their job then it will quickly become another distant memory related to your surgery.

Congratulations on taking this BIG step and I hope you have a speedy recovery and achieve all of the goals you have set for yourself.

Best Wishes

Having the drain in hurt so bad that when I had it removed it didn't hurt at all I got instant relief.. The tube kept rubbing up against my diaphragm every time I breathed in it hurt bad.. So no it doesn't hurt make sure you take your meds before you get it taken out.

I'm recovering just fine I'd rather have it done in one procedure where I don't have to do double anesthesia.

Hi Tracey.. My name is Anna.. My friend had the bypass, and is now packing in the weight.. She was told she can try the lap band. Talk to your surgeon about your options. Keep us posted.

what happens when you have oesophagus dialation

I didn't have a dialated esophagus but normally the dialation gets better while you're on a liquid diet..so it takes a couple of weeks to shrink down..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
