Help I Have To Be Converted To A Full Bypass....

Recommended Posts

I looked up some images and finally found one that shows the long pouch more or less flipping over, causing a twist at the top and at the bottom.

I found out that my sleeve is twisted or I have a kink...however you want to refer to it. I am scared to death to be converted to the full sleeve now. I have never even hear of this happening and I can hardly find any info on the twisting. Has any one had this or know anything about it. or been converted?

Just wondering how you are? Did you have to have the bypass? My surgeon told me that every sleeve surgery is at risk of having to convert to a bypass if the sleeve is too small but her has never had to do it. I have never heard of it getting twisted. Pretty scary I'm sure. Hope you are feeling better!

I just saw this post. I had a twisted and kinked pouch. They placed a stent in my esophagus and pouch for 2 weeks and it fixed it. If the stent did not work, then they were going to convert my sleeve to bypass.

Hope you are doing well.

I am going through this same problem right now and I am lost, devastated . I am five months out from surgery and down over 100 pounds since surgery date, now weighing 146 and 5'9. It's rough. I'm have had several test done and am now being told that there is this new procedure which had NO NAME for it and has only been done twice where they think they can fix the problem. Any updates on your situation?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
