Most Common Time To Stall

Recommended Posts

Yes, Yes . . we are all very different in the way we lose weight. However with out sorting through every post ever made on VST I was wondering what are the most common times to stall through out the first year and do they last for different amounts of time. Example, if three weeks and 5 months are common stall points , does the three week stall only last one week where the 5 month stall last a month ?

Stalls seem to get everyone in such a feisty mood I thought if i just prepared for one in my head I could psych it out ;)

The 3 week stall could last from 1 week to 6 weeks. Does that narrow it down? Not much. If you stall at 5 months, that's most likely your BMR slowing down to match your caloric intake. That's a situation that won't change itself. You either have to up your BMR or lower your intake. Either way, the time it lasts will depend on how long it takes you to recognize and make that change.

Sorry if I didn't really answer your questions.

That makes sense. I'm 7 1/2 months out, and I've slowed down a LOT. The only thing that really keeps the loss rolling is if I make a conscious effort to shave carbs and increase cardio.

As far as stalls that one can count on in the first year? Veer too far off the path and you'll find one! ;)

I hit a long stall around the 6 month mark, also currently at another one (sigh), I'm about 10 1/2 months out.

Hi Ashleyxx,

Did you have to make dramatic changes to break the stall at 6 months and how long did it last?

Sorry for the highjack!

Hi Ashleyxx,

Sorry for the highjack!

From what I have read on here and other WLS forums that its common to get one around that time, I pretty much just stuck to what I was doing and ride it out, it lasted me about a month I would say. This time though I think Im going to have to watch closely what Im eating and increase my Fluid intake and of course increase the exercise, thats one thing I have been lacking.

My first stall was at 6 months and lasted 10 weeks; i felt like i was doing everything right. Altho the scale did not move...inches were still coming off. Im in my 10th month now and either i am in another major stall or the weight loss has slowed down/stopped! My body keeps playing with these 2 pounds...up and down and up and down.

Best wishes to you in your journey!

Thats great you dropped another pant size! I finally broke my stall and am down 2 pounds, havent dropped a pant size in awhile though!

I wasnt being as good with my eating as I should be, I was having white bread here and there, I cut it out completely, I've just been sticking to the low carb wraps, and wasa crackers if Im craving bread or crackers, Ive also cut back on my splenda use.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
