  1. I've been reading the threads looking for information about meeting people. It looks like aside from internet sites or meetup groups, that's about the only options? How do people meet each other? In the past, I met relationships through my jobs. But I've worked in HR for a company with 200 people for five years now so that isn't an option for me. I've been raising my 14 year old twins as a single parent for years and all their activities expose us to families. Plus between work and their activities, time is constraining. I'm not comfortable using internet sites. A few of my friends have met their SO's that way and are happy. My friends are all married and don't have single friends to meet. How do single parents do it?
  2. Hi Jenna, You could've written this for me. I've also stalled since April and have crept down little by little since then. I have been bouncing a few pounds up and down (87 total lbs loss so far) and currently am at 152 (17 lbs from personal goal). By now I thought I would've reached personal goal but have not consistently exercised and definitely relied more on caffeine than the water. My pants size has always been slow to lose and I'm currently in a size 12 pants when I was hoping size 9 by now. The back to basics is a great reminder. I didn't know about the 6-8 bites either. Still...I remind myself that its really amazing how much has been accomplished so far in 9 months and how I feel about myself now. Things like not avoiding the camera anymore, and knowing I can eat anything and be satisfied in small portions, and how my diet has improved amazingly in 9 months. How my children see a good example in changes such as diet and my going kayaking or registering for a 5K. I enjoy trying on clothes now (not necessarily buying since there isn't extra money for that) but just the idea that fashionable clothing fits and flatters. Congratulations to everyone who has made their goal at this stage and I am very appreciative of the reminders and tips to succeed.
  3. You are all amazing! Congratulations to all of you! Green, you look beautiful. Your weight and pants size is where I'm striving towards. I have been at 157 for 7 weeks now and still a size 14 pants. Can we say FRUSTRATED? The scale bounces a couple of pounds up then back. I've lost total 82 lbs and am 22 pounds from personal goal but it's not doing anything. I think my hair loss is getting better, not finished yet but better. I exercise three times a week and eat my protein and produce. I think New Grandmother has a great idea about the water though to try. The salad jars sound awesome! I hope this stall breaks soon!
  4. Congratulations!!!! You are awesome!!!!
  5. Thank you so much! I am being positive and grace too, and appreciate your response and information, and the prayers too! I am so happy your own experience was benign. I'll know more following the dr appt and the recovery time sounds great!
  6. I am with you. I have stalled for five weeks between 161 to 157 and inbetween. Weighed in at my six month dr appt at 159. He wanted me at 150. Will see him in three months and am hoping my personal goal is met (135 lbs). I still...after six months, have only dropped two pants sizes (size 14). I remember years ago being a size 12 weighing 180 lbs. Frustrated.
  7. I just checked in after being away for a little bit. Easter was ok - I find that I am able to eat more at this recent stage which is a little scary. I am 50 and have been pre-menopausal and it has really kicked in (last cycle was in January) so I am having increased hot flashes and all the PMS symptoms and not feeling a happy camper. I gained four lbs so currently at 161 from 157 over two weeks ago - have stalled, feeling frustrated, feeling bloated, and I was really hoping to be at 150 by my 6 month appt on April 11th, as my doctor had expected. I feel heavier - pants feel tighter just from regaining four pounds and who knows how many inches. And was really disappointed that instead of losing down to 150 in the past two weeks, have not moved after regaining.
  8. Congratulations! What an accomplishment. You look beautiful.
  9. Congratulations on such an amazing accomplishment! You are just beautiful!
  10. 82 lbs since pre-op diet. 22 lbs to personal goal. Love eating far better food choices!, wearing skinny jeans, fitting into medium clothes, wearing pretty styles, how kind people have been, range of motion vastly improved, feeling my bones, walking in public with my head held confident for the first time in years, physically able to walk more or climb a hill on the beach in the sand, having my kids not be ashamed of my weight. Hoping for my other personal goals to fall into place!
  11. It's my six months surgiversary today. Wow! :)
  12. Hi there! Congratulations! Great job and I know how long those stalls can be! My numbers are close to yours as well. Starting weight at pre-op was 239 and now 157. 82 lb loss and surgery was 9/19/12.
  13. Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your support!
  14. Yes, have noticed grocery store or retail store employees more interested in helping. I'm a 14/12 too. It's a little weird.
  15. Takroom, I am so sorry you are feeling frustrated. We completely understand the stalls and the frustration and sometimes it just helps hearing us share to know we are not alone. Patience wasn't added to my nutrition book guidelines. I'm getting close too and in another stall...so sending you hugs!
  16. Hair loss as well for over two months. Think it's starting to lessen. Currently 75 lbs lost. 29 to go for goal. Pants size around 14/12. Tops are large to medium. Next dr appt is 4/11/13. He wants me at 150 at that appt. (Will be six months post op 3/19/13.)
  17. This topic has come up in pre-op discussions and I was curious if it does affect relationships. What signs to look for? Thank you.
  18. I'm so impressed by your weight loss. 17 lbs away from goal. So excited for you!
  19. Hi there! Congratulations! That is great how much you have accomplished! My surgery was the day before yours and I'm relating to a lot of what you are saying. I've noticed that I can eat more now too which scares me a little and I'm currently in a stall too. Once this stops for both of us and the weight starts dropping again, we're both going to feel a lot better.
  20. Congratulations! You are amazing!
  21. Congratulations! Such an inspiration for everyone.
  22. Hello! I'm five months out and 72 lbs down. In my third stall currently and 32 lbs to doctor's goal weight. So to help with the impatience, I thought it would be nice to hear where folks are at in their post op journey and what changes have made you happy so far! I was on a beach last weekend and climbed up a sandy incline with relatively little short breath. Amazing! I can drive my car and my range of motion is great when I turn back to look for traffic. I love wearing Old Navy stretch skinny jeans in colors never dared before! What are yours?
