I am scheduled for surgery on Oct 29 and am a bit scared. I am not sure if I made the right decision. I am type 2 diabetic along with sleep apnea and want the best possible outcome for WLS. Hope my decision for sleeve instead of by pass was right. I am scheduled for pre op on tues. For the last week I have fallen off my diet and resorted back to my bad foods. Help!!

I had my 6 month medically supervised diet a couple years ago - so I haven't been "dieting" at all and as a matter of fact it's been the opposite. My surgery is Nov. 6 and I keep telling myself I have to get on track before the pre-op diet (they'll weigh me in on Oct. 24 the day of my nutritional appt. and I don't want to show a big weight gain since my appt. with the surgeon). The 2 week preop diet is really scaring me - can I do liquids for 2 whole weeks. I've seen some ppls' Liquid Protein diet actually allows them to eat one real meal a day - I'm hoping I have that but I'm not counting on it.

You're not alone in your reservations. I'll be totally psyched one day and then depressed the next questioning my decision. I just know in my heart it's the right decision.

I'm on YouTube and hope to post videos of my journey (I've posted 2 but don't feel like I want to post another until after my NUT appt. and start of the pre-op diet). You can find me on YouTube at cmf1267. There's a big WLS community there and they are very helpful. If you haven't already - check it out.

I had surgery earlier this month. I also had type 2 Diabetes. I was taken off my medicines already. It makes me so happy because I was concerned about my pancreas. The medicine I was taking was very hard on my body. I did not have as easy time with my surgery as some of the others on this site. In fact I go back to work tomorrow after a month off. Overall I am so happy that I had the surgery. Knowing the difference between the RNY and the sleeve ahead of time should put you at peace with your decision. Good Luck to you:)

rmbtcb4evr - You were off for a month? My surgery date worked out so I'm taking almost 3 full weeks. My surgery is Nov. 6 and 2 full weeks would have had me back to work on the Tues. before Thanksgiving so I just figured I always take that week off anyway and it will give me one more full week for recovery.

Did you have complications? Glad you are doing better now!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
