I think you will have to choose very wisely on what it is you eat, Some people have no problems at all with food whislt others do.. I had my lapband done a little over 2 months ago and I can not eat ANY meat unless it is minced up (Pasta sauce) regardless of how much I chew it,It will not go down my doc told me I should be fine with sausages and hamburgers but as it happens I'm not.. I think by your 6 month stage you will know exactly what will work for you and what wont..

Good Luck matey

A side salad is good at any resteraunt. I eat a bite of my husbands, or friends food (whoever im out with)

Try to look at it as a reason to be social and not so much a reason to hog out...........(like many of us used to)

I was banded in June, food is "sorta" starting to be my friend again. :girl_hug:

I am still finding the food a mystery. Last Sat night I ate with friends who dont know I am banded and no one would have been the wiser. The following day I tried to eat leftovers ( all salad type so nothing that would have toughened overnight) and couldnt get a thing down. Same happened last night for me, Tried to eat apricots and yoghurt which I haver had often with no probs but struggled, pain and then my first episode of "sliming". It isn't just certain food but certain days that cause me grief. I guess this is all a great learning experience. i am 2 months banded and when I go to restaurants I havent attempted anything more than Soup, just playing safe. Once summer comes I guess I will have to try and find something suitable.

I am from Melbourne Cathy1 and I had it done at the avenue. Despite the difficulties working out what food I can and cant eat, it is still the best thing I have ever done for my health. Go ahead and book your op with confidence that you will be a new person in 12 months.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
