My vsg is Monday morning at 9 am. I'm doing pretty well with my preop diet and am excited for surgery. I being the yoyo dieter that most all of us are/were went thru all my packed up clothes today and picked out some that should fit soon hopefully I have enough sizes to make it thru winter without buying much of anything. BUT I'm getting nervous too. What if I fail this like all my past weight loss attempts? What if I lose so much weight I get saggy skin and breasts at 23? What if my boyfriend doesn't like the thinner me ? O and I'm sitting here watching friends eat chicken pork potatos rolls and mashed potatos while I drink my Protein Shake. I'm trying to stay positive :)

Calm down all your fears are "What If's" none of these situations have happen yet. Refocus your mind, go read the info you received from the classes read it daily for reinforcement. I think alot of relationships will change among your peers, friends and maybe your boyfriend. So prepare yourself, you can handle it. Anyone going through this type of process is stronger than they think. You are going to be changing, so accept the fact others will too. Just remember those that love you will always be there for you. Good Luck you will be fine.

I'm right there too! Monday morning-arrival at hospital 6am-I'm the docs first of the day! I'm worried about postop- you know, pain, nausea, complications. Trying to stay positive-it will all be worth it!

Then you will get new boobs, a new boyfriend, and new friends!! I see this surgery as a reset button....wish I was 23 instead of 44, but we all deserve a chance to be who we want to be. And this will wotk if we follow the plan which may mean giving up on things not working for us.... Good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
