I am having a hard time with proteins....

Recommended Posts

And in some ways I feel that I am not tight enough.

I haven't tried bread, but a bit of rice and a few bites of zuchinni bread hasn't bother me like I think it should.

But the Proteins.....

salmon or tuna with mayo - hard time.............

steamed or broiled fish, salmon and halibut - hard time

chicken - hard time..............

certainly beef (which I expected) - hard time................

meatloaf - hard time

In fact, I might consider moving to Mexico, chili is the only thing that doesn't seem to bother me. Either that or embrace my inner vegetarian and eat tofu.........

Yes, I might be taking too big of bites, and yeeeeeeeeeeeeeees I might not be chewing enough. So will watch that.

Anyone else experience this?

Hi Paulax, sorry, I have not been experiencing any problems with Protein. I know many people suggest drinking something warm before eating. They say that seems to help. Have you tried that?

Hey.....I too, have a hard time with Proteins. I can eat SOME fish (not tuna) but I can eat salmon fillet and fillet of sole. I can eat meatloaf but not a burger. No to chicken, pork, steak etc. I too eat chili several times a week. I also like to fry up ground turkey or hamburger and eat it with LF sour cream and or salsa -- like nachoes without the chips. It is definately hard to get used to, but once you have a few stand bys like the chili, cottage cheese, or fake nacho thing, you feel better. Good luck with it. Now if I could just start having a hard time with ice cream......:S

I am at 5.5 cc's in a 10cc band and I still haven't had any problems with food getting stuck or not going down well. I eat fish, steak, chicken, pork chops, etc. Hopefully the drinking of warm Water before you eat will work for you. I'm sorry to hear you're having so much trouble :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
