Hardly Any Support But Im Good!

Recommended Posts

I've made up my mind that this is about me and I'm not waisting energy worrying about support. My sister is coming with me the day of surgery she's all I got. My husband haven't had a lot to say so I don't know if he's supportive or not. He haven't shown any interest in being with me at the hospital...he's took off to be with the kids. There's so many issues there until I don't care if he's not there he saddens me:( I'm so ready for my new life! When I say new I mean brand new! I'm getting rid of the dead weight in my life so I can be happy! Its all about me getting healthy so I can live for my babies!

Stay strong! Follow your heart! The people that want to support you, will. The people who don't, you're better off without them. Your health and life are very important, you do what's best for you!!! Go girl!!

My situation is the opposite of yours. My sister has given me nothing but hell since she found out that I was having surgery. My husband on the other hand has given me tons of support and has made sure that I was able to make all my appts. My mom gave me her 2 cents about the surgery and seemed supportive at first but now all she's really managed is to stir up more drama. In order for me to stay in my positive mindset I realized that I can't deal with the negativity, so I've distanced myself for the time being. I feel like since I'm the youngest child that they still view me as the baby *sigh*

ValdostaGA you have to do what is best for you! I had no support until after the surgery! Either way I had made up in my mind if they didn't support me it would be okay! You will find support within yourself that you thought you never had! Also this forum is a wonderful source of support too! Best of luck on your journey

My partner took a little while to warm to the idea of surgery but I decided I needed to sit him down and find out why. Turns out it was his own insecurities and now he has even taken time off work to come to the hospital.

Your husband will either come around or he won't, but you shouldn't let what he thinks change your mind. I knew from the beginning that even if I didn't have support I would do it on my own.

I really hope he changes his tune, it will be so much easier having love and support around you xx

I have no support from my "family" and I'm ok with that. Cause this is about me and doing what is best for me. My biggest reason for having the surgery is my birth daughter, whom I gave up for adoption when she was 3½ years cause I wanted her to have better then I felt I could give her I have not seen here sense she was 9½ and I know one day she will come looking for me and I want to be here also I'm the caregiver for my dad and I want to be able to take care of him when he really needs me more then he does now

There is a lot of support right here on this forum for you girl! Everyone has a different story to tell. Some of us are blessed with support, some of us have none, some of us are dealing with friends or family who are frankly jealous of the fact that we have decided to take a bold step and move forward with a plan. It's all good. We've all got our journey to take, and you can take it here with us. Look at the forum subjects each day and someone will answer. As always, make sure to check with your Dr, nurse or nutritionist if you have a real problem or are unsure of the safety of a food or medicine. Everyone's body is different and our bodies all have different responses to foods on any given week after surgery. DON'T eat anything dense or hard to digest in the first 8 weeks, that has been stressed to me a LOT. Like chunks of steak, hot dog, anything that can get stuck or lodged in your pouch. And be careful of food that expands when you swallow it, like bread, popcorn, carbonated beverages, rice, Pasta. That'll make you feel really bad. Good luck! :)

If your hubby isn't treating you with love, honor, and respect, he really needs a reality check. I like that your focusing on you and getting your health back to A+ standing. You will rock that sleeve! :)

My husband has been a jerk about my weight over the years. This next year is going to be interesting.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
