It's $15,000 self-pay in the US, too - give or take a bit. US hospitals charge more than Mexican facilities. US doctors are forced to pay very high overhead expenses, including malpractice insurance premiums. And I suspect they are a little greedy and have hugely inflated egos. I once told a surgeon what my insurance would pay him for a particular procedure. He told me that he "wouldn't scrub up and walk into the operating room for that kind of money".

I see his name over and over in some of the boards I visit and haven't seen anything negative about it....he must be one busy boy!

I was banded in Salt Lake City, UT on Sept. 6, 2006. I was self-pay and my doctor charged $12,900 which includes follow ups and fills for a year. The surgeon was Hanafy M. Hanafy. Good luck!

My daughter just was banded by Dr Rumbaut at gastricband.com in Monterrey Mexico 9/14/06. she is doing great. very exceptional care, better than in states. I work in healthcare and had bypass at tufts in boston eight years ago and she recieved even better treatment in Mexico. I went with her because she is 17 and i was nervous at first. The hospital was very up to date. Care was exceptional and MD one of the most caring I have come across. He even visited her at the hotel 1-2 x epr day until we left. had surgery on thursday, flew home sunday. I just wish he was closer so she could follow up with him for fills.

I was banded in Tijuana Mexico 2 weeks ago and my business partner was banded yesterday by the same doctor in Tijuana Mexico and the experience was great..... We live in San Diego so its easy access for us but the Dr Kuri and his staff are excellent... the hospital was beautiful... I have been in many US ooperating rooms and delt with US hospital staff with my job and my experience in Mexico was really good... Dr Kuri has placed almost 3000 bands and his complication rate is 1% so if your looking for a referal and Mexico is an option I highly recommend Dr Kuri

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
